Reiki or EFT: Which Practice Is Right for You?

Table of Contents

If you feel that you need emotional release or a deeper connection with yourself, you may be wondering which practice is more suitable for you: Reiki or EFT?

Both practices can offer a gentle space for inner connection. However, they work in different ways and create a different kind of experience. Reiki is more receptive and energy-based, while EFT is more active and focuses on specific emotions, thoughts or difficulties.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle energy practice usually offered through soft touch or with the hands placed near the body. During the session, you lie fully clothed in a calm space and allow yourself to receive the experience.

You do not need to speak much or analyse what you are feeling. Reiki may be suitable for you if you are looking for relaxation, grounding, inner calm and a more receptive form of support.

What Is EFT?

EFT, also known as tapping, is an emotional release technique. During the session, you gently tap on specific points of the body while focusing on an emotion, thought or theme that feels present for you.

EFT may be suitable for you if there is something specific you would like to work with, such as tension, anxiety, fear, anger, guilt or a repeated pattern. The process is guided, and you do not need to know the technique beforehand.

When to Choose Reiki

Reiki may feel closer to what you need when you want to rest, soften and receive support without necessarily going into words or analysis.

Reiki could be your choice if:

  • you feel tired or energetically heavy
  • you want a calmer and more receptive experience
  • you need grounding and connection with the body
  • you find it difficult to talk about what you feel
  • you simply need to pause

When to Choose EFT

EFT may be more suitable when there is a specific emotion or theme you want to explore. It is a more active process because you participate with your body, your voice and your attention.

EFT could be your choice if:

  • you feel anxious or emotionally overwhelmed
  • you want to work with a specific thought
  • a repeated pattern keeps appearing
  • you want step-by-step guidance
  • you need a way to express what you are holding inside

If you are feeling tension or anxiety, you can also read EFT and Anxiety.

The two techniques can be used in combination. Reiki can help release energetic blockages, allowing suppressed emotions to surface, which can then be gently processed and released through EFT.

What If You Do Not Know What You Need?

You do not need to have the answer from the beginning. Sometimes the body asks for rest and calm. Other times, an emotion asks to be heard more clearly.

If you feel that you need a deeper and more personalised experience, you may also explore Intuitive Harmony, where the session is intuitively adapted to what you need in the present moment.

The most important thing is to begin from what you feel now. If you would like more guidance, you can book an introductory appointment so we can see which practice feels more aligned for you.

The practices at Inner Glow are complementary and do not replace medical diagnosis, medical treatment or psychotherapeutic support.
