If you are thinking about trying EFT for the first time, it is completely natural to have questions. You may wonder what you will actually do, whether you need to talk a lot, if it will feel awkward, or what happens if you become emotional during the session.
EFT, also known as tapping, is a gentle emotional release technique. During the process, you softly tap on specific points of the body with your fingers while focusing on an emotion, thought or difficulty that feels present for you. The goal is not to force yourself to “get over” something, but to create space for what you feel with more acceptance and calm.
Will I Need to Talk a Lot?
At the beginning of the session, there is usually a short conversation so the practitioner can understand what brings you there and what emotion or topic you would like to explore. However, you do not need to share more than you feel ready to say.
EFT can work with simple words or general descriptions, such as “I feel heaviness”, “I feel tension”, or “I am not sure what I feel”. You do not need to have everything figured out before the session begins.
What Will I Do With My Hands?
The practitioner guides you step by step. You will gently tap with your fingers on specific points, such as the face, chest or hands, while repeating phrases connected to what you are feeling.
You do not need to know the technique beforehand. You do not need to do it perfectly. The process is simple, gentle and adapted to your own pace.
What If I Feel Awkward or Emotional?
That is completely normal. When we give space to an emotion, tears, relief, silence or vulnerability may naturally arise. All of these are welcome within the session.
You do not need to hold yourself together or explain everything. The intention is to create a space where you can be honest with yourself, without pressure and without judgment.
Can I Stop If I Do Not Feel Comfortable?
Yes, at any moment. The session moves forward only as long as you feel safe and ready. You can pause, change the focus or say that something does not feel right for you.
EFT for beginners does not need to feel difficult or intense. It can be a gentle first step into listening to yourself, your emotions and your need for more inner calm.
EFT sessions are complementary and do not replace medical diagnosis, medical treatment or psychotherapeutic support.
