Reiki για αρχάριους: Όσα χρειάζεται να ξέρεις πριν την πρώτη συνεδρία

Table of Contents

If you are thinking about trying Reiki for the first time, it is completely natural to have questions. You may wonder what actually happens during a session, whether you need to believe in something, if you will need to talk, or whether the practitioner will touch you. Reiki is a gentle energy practice that invites you to relax, reconnect with your body and create space for whatever needs to soften within you.

You do not need any previous experience. You do not need to know how you are “supposed” to feel. Your first Reiki session is mostly an experience of presence, release and returning to yourself.

Do I Need to Believe in Something?

No. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any specific belief system. You can approach it simply as a practice of relaxation and inner connection. All you need is a willingness to be open to the experience and allow yourself to rest, without trying to control what happens.

Will I Need to Talk?

At the beginning of the session, there is usually a short conversation so you can share how you feel, what brings you there and whether there is anything you would like the practitioner to know. However, you do not need to explain everything or share anything that feels too personal.

Reiki does not require deep analysis. You can simply arrive as you are, with whatever you are carrying.

Will the Practitioner Touch Me?

During a Reiki session, the practitioner may gently place their hands on specific areas of the body or hold them slightly above the body with minimum touching. This is always done with respect, care and according to what feels comfortable for you.

If you prefer no physical touch at all, you can say so before the session begins. Feeling safe and comfortable is an important part of the experience.

What Should I Wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to lie down and relax easily. There is no special preparation needed. It is helpful to arrive a few minutes early so you do not enter the session feeling rushed or stressed.

What Might I Feel Afterwards?

After a Reiki session, some people feel calmer, lighter or more grounded. Others may feel tired, emotional or in need of rest. Every experience is different, and there is no right or wrong response.

The most important thing is to give yourself some space after the session. Drink water, avoid putting too much pressure on yourself and gently observe how you feel.

A Gentle First Step Back to Yourself

Reiki for beginners does not need to feel strange or complicated. It is a gentle invitation to pause, listen to your body and allow tension to soften. You do not need to do anything perfectly. You only need to be present.

Reiki sessions are complementary and do not replace medical diagnosis, medical treatment or psychotherapeutic support.
